Following the successful debut of HessenCon last year in Waldkappel, this year the HessenCon arrives at the financial heart of Germany: August 24 - 26 2007 in the Frankfurt Youth Hostel "Haus der Jugend" (Deutschherrnufer 12, 60594 Frankfurt am Main).
The youth hostel is located in the centre of Frankfurt with direct access to the river Main, featuring an astounding view of the Frankfurt skyline especially at night. Many sights lie close to the hostel and can be reached within a few minutes' walk: lots of museums on both sides of the river Main, the famous town hall Römer, Paulskirche (the cradle of German democracy), Kaiserdom (cathedral), Goethe House, Kaisersaal, the stock exchange, der zoo and the palm garden, to mention just a few of them. The romantic Alt-Sachsenhausen with its nightlife is just around the corner.
If you are fast, you might be lucky and still find accommodation directly at the youth hostel, where the tournament will take place, thus avoiding long travels from the hotel to the venue and giving you the opportunity to enjoy nightlife or board games more easily.
After check-in we start on Friday evening with a short guided town walk to gather some first impressions, followed by the traditional coming-together featuring beer, cocktails or the (in-)famous Frankfurter Ebbelwei in one of the numerous bars.
From Saturday morning to Sunday noon we will play three fast rounds of Diplomacy until 1907: two rounds of about fout hours each on Saturday, and another round on Sunday. There will be a single and team award for the German FtF Diplomacy Champion 2007.
On Saturday evening, following the two rounds of diplomacy, there will be the opportunity to have a traditional Frankfurt dinner Abendessen in a typical "Gaddewirtschaft". Afterwards you can retreat to the youth hostel to play games like Caylus, Formula Dé, Roborally, Werewolf or BANG!, or explore the Frankfurt nightlife. On this weekend there will be the excellent "Museumsuferfest" along the Mains with numerous stages and lots of occasions to dance, which takes place close to the venue.
When the last round has finished on Sunday, there will be the award ceremony. And if someone decides to stay until Monday, they will have the chance to enjoy the incredible fireworks at the end of the "Museumsuferfest". A weekend full of fun and action is guaranteed in any case. We are happy that we can offer all this for the traditionally fair all-inclusive prices.
